About Vancouver Referencing
Vancouver is a numbered referencing style widely used in medical, nursing and biomedical writing. Each in-text citation is a superscript or bracketed number that corresponds to a numbered entry in the reference list at the end of the paper.
In-text citations
Use consecutive numbers in the order sources appear: e.g. Recent studies (1,2) show... The same number is reused each time the source is cited.
Reference list
Entries are numbered in the order they appear in the text (not alphabetically). Journal names are abbreviated per the NLM catalogue.
Author names
List up to six authors. For seven or more, list the first six followed by et al.
